This SEO Course is structured to take a complete novice and turn them into a Junior SEO Specialist capable of handling a client account from Day 1. It bridges the gap between traditional Search (Google Blue Links) and the future (Answer Engine Optimization – AEO).

Module 1: The Landscape โ€“ From Blue Links to AI Answers

Goal: Understand the ecosystem shift. Why “Just blogging” doesn’t work anymore.

  • The “Audit”: Students are given a website that was hit by an update. They must identify which update hit it and write a 1-page “Recovery Strategy” memo.

  • Tools: Google Trends, Wayback Machine, Google Algorithm History Logs (Moz/SEJ).

Module 2: Technical SEO โ€“ Building the Infrastructure

Goal: If Google can’t crawl it, you can’t rank.

  • The “Screaming Frog” Deep Dive: Run a crawl on a live local business site. Find 5 critical errors (broken links, 404s, missing H1s) and fix them in a staging environment.

  • Tools: Screaming Frog (Free ver.), Google PageSpeed Insights, Schema.org Validator, Google Search Console (GSC).

Module 3: Advanced Keyword Research & User Intent

Goal: Finding the questions real humans are asking.

  • The “Keyword Map”: Create a content calendar for a fictional client (e.g., a Dentist in Nairobi) targeting 3 stages of the funnel.

  • Tools: Ubersuggest (Free/Paid), AnswerThePublic, Google Keyword Planner, Ahrefs (Free Generator), ChatGPT (for brainstorming seed ideas).

Module 4: Content Engineering & On-Page SEO (The E-E-A-T Framework)

Goal: Writing for Humans, Optimizing for Robots.

  • The “Perfect Page”: Write and publish a 1,500-word guide on a specific topic. Must include verified author bio (E-E-A-T), Schema, and optimized images.

  • Tools: WordPress/Webflow, Yoast SEO/RankMath, SurferSEO (or NeuronWriter for budget option), Hemingway Editor.

Module 5: Local SEO & Google Business Profile (The Cash Cow)

Goal: Getting the phone to ring for local businesses.

  • The “Rank & Rent” Simulation: Setup a GMB for a mock service. Optimize it fully. Track where it ranks in the “Map Pack” for 5 local keywords.

Module 6: Off-Page SEO & Authority Building

Goal: Building trust through digital votes (Backlinks).

  • The “Outreach Campaign”: Draft a pitch email to a real blogger or local news site proposing a guest article or collaboration.

Goal: Proving ROI to the client.

Since Tembo is training young entrepreneurs, we avoid expensive enterprise tools where possible:
